New Zealand Saloon Car Championship - 1st and 2nd January 2010

Walking through the pits at Baypark Speedway in Tauranga you will find many women of all ages forming part of the pit crews for the competitors, if you look a little closer you will see that some of these women are the competitors. One in particular stands out as she is the current Bay of Plenty Saloon Champion, one of he youngest competitors and the only female competing in the New Zealand Saloon Champtionship.

At just 20 years old Michelle Wymer is showing the boys how it's done. Willie Kay, promoter for Baypark Speedway, summed this up when at the start of the 'A Main' championship race he opened with 'Michelle, Gentlemen, Start your engines' . Michelle pegged her way through the field over the two night championship meet to gain 11th position in the grid of the 24 best Saloon drivers from all over the country. After coming 4th in last years event Michelle had a big task ahead of her and she finished in a highly commendale 6th position.

Well done Michelle and good luck for the rest of the season from the team at Wheels and Heels.
